Women’s Tennis increases win streak to four with 6-3 victory over Springfield (Mass.) on spring break trip

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team won its fourth straight match Thursday with a 6-3 victory over Springfield (Mass.) at the Lake Cane Tennis Center.
The Polar Bears remain unbeaten on their spring break trip and improve to 7-3 overall while dropping the Pride to 4-4.
Northern won two of the three doubles courts.
Freshman Jamie Hurst (Granger, Ind./Penn) and sophomore Julianne Sheldon (Ashtabula/Saint John) won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles, and freshman Abby Cruser (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) and senior Flo Sanchez (West Chester/Lakota West) won 8-2 at No. 3.
ONU proceeded to take four of the six singles courts to secure the victory.
Hurst won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, freshman Jenna Bell (Latrobe, Pa.) won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3, senior Regan Landis (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4, and sophomore Katie O'Connell (Novi, Mich./Saint Catherine) won 6-3, 2-6, 10-4 at No. 6.
Bell now has a team-best nine singles victories and is 15-9 overall on the season.
The Polar Bears return to action on Friday to close out their spring break schedule against Macalester (Minn.) at 2:30 p.m.
