ADA — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team defeated Denison 2-1 on Wednesday night at Kerscher Stadium, handing first-year head coach Ben Tierney his first victory as a Polar Bear.

The Match
- After a scoreless first half, the Big Red got on the scoreboard first on a goal from Callie Davis in the 58th minute, as her shot bounced between the crossbar and the ground and was determined to cross the goal line.
- In the 61st minute, the Polar Bears responded by drawing a foul in the box and earning a penalty kick. Senior Emma Cook (Marysville/Fairbanks) converted the penalty kick into a goal to tie the score.
- Junior Elizabeth Pierce (Liberty Township/Mount Notre Dame) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal on an assist from sophomore Haley Cannon (Oregon/Clay) in the 80th minute.
- Pierce and junior Alyssa Beckett (Monroe) led the Polar Bears with four shots each.
- Freshman Morgan Moeller (Harrison/Roger Bacon) played all 90 minutes in goal for ONU and recorded one save.
- ONU finished with a 15-7 advantage in shots, and both teams had two corner kicks.
Notables
- This marked the second straight game in which Cook converted a penalty kick into a goal, and she now has two career goals.
- Pierce's goal was her first of the season and seventh of her career. She now has five game-winning goals in her career.
- Moeller has played the entirety of all seven of ONU's games thus far and boasts a 1.71 GAA with 27 saves.
