Catrine, Beckham headline All-Ohio selections for Women’s Soccer

ADA — Six student-athletes represented the Ohio Northern women's soccer team on the annual Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association All-Ohio and Academic All-Ohio teams for the 2021 season.
Seniors Kristy Catrine (Springboro) and Carissa Beckham (Mason/Mount Notre Dame) were both named to the All-Ohio First Team for their performance this past season.
Sophomore Bri Straus (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) and freshman Alyssa Beckett (Monroe) were named to the All-Ohio Second Team, and sophomore Jill Roberts (Bellbrook/Carroll) was named to the Third Team.
Catrine and Beckham were also members of the Academic All-Ohio First Team along with junior Lauren Naso (Grosse Ile, Mich.).
The latest accolades for Beckham and Catrine come after they were both named to the 2021 NCAA Division III Scholar All-America Second Team by United Soccer Coaches and Academic All-OAC.
Beckham, a First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection for 2021, also earned First Team All-Region 7 and Third Team All-America honors from United Soccer Coaches this season.
A three-year starter and three-time All-OAC honoree, Beckham was part of a Polar Bear defense that limited opponents to just 15 goals (0.68 per game) this season while posting 14 shutouts, and she earned a spot on the All-OAC Tournament Team.
She has four points via one goal and two assists in 67 career games, including 59 starts.
Beckham boasts a 3.74 GPA in biology and is a three-time Academic All-OAC selection.
Catrine, who in 2021 was named First Team All-OAC and the conference's Goalkeeper of the Year for the second straight season, was a three-time OAC Player of the Week selection and an All-OAC Tournament honoree this year.
She started all 22 games for the Polar Bears this season, allowing 15 goals and posting 13 shutouts while tallying 74 saves, an .831 save percentage and a 0.67 GAA. Her 13 shutouts are tied for second-most in a season in program history, and her 21 career shutouts are fifth-most on the program's all-time leaderboard. The 0.67 GAA is the sixth-best season-long mark in program history on a list she tops with her 0.09 GAA from 2020.
As a junior, Catrine earned CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team and Academic All-District 7 First Team honors and was an Academic All-OAC, All-OAC Tournament Team and three-time OAC Player of the Week selection.
Catrine has a career record of 22-6-5 with 105 saves, 0.47 GAA and .868 save percentage in 33 games, including 32 starts.
Catrine, a two-time Academic All-OAC and United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American, boasts a 3.94 GPA in pharmacy.
Straus, a 2021 Academic All-OAC selection and a member of the United Soccer Coaches All-Region 7 Third Team and All-OAC Second Team, was also a key member of the ONU defense this season.
The two-time All-Conference honoree has started all 32 games she has played in her ONU career and tallied one assist in 21 starts this season.
Beckett, an All-Region Second Team and All-OAC First Team selection this season, ranked third on the team in goals (4) and points (10) this season while adding two assists.
The midfielder provided one of the team's offensive highlights of the year with a hat trick in ONU's 3-3 draw with Capital on Oct. 23.
Roberts, a two-year starter at forward, tallied a team-high 15 points and tied for the team lead in goals with six this season. She provided a pair of game-winning goals this season — in 1-0 wins over North Central (Ill.) and Marietta.
The two-time All-OAC selection tied for second on the team with three assists and is a 2021 Academic All-OAC selection.
She has started all 33 games she has played in her career and boasts career totals of six goals, four assists and 16 points.
Naso, a Second Team All-OAC and Academic All-OAC selection this season, tallied three goals and two assists for eight points this season.
The midfielder came up big for the Polar Bears late in the season, scoring one goal in a 3-0 win over Mount Union in the regular-season finale and adding two more, including the game-winner in double overtime, in a 2-1 victory over Capital in the OAC Tournament semifinals.
That performance spurred her to a spot on the All-OAC Tournament team.
Naso now has four goals, three assists and 11 points in 49 career games.
She boasts a 4.0 GPA in pharmaceutical and business management.
The Polar Bears posted a record of 14-5-3 and won their fourth OAC Tournament championship in 2021 to earn their sixth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history under 18th-year head coach Mark Batman. They advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling 2-0 at No. 10 Case Western Reserve.
