Women's Lacrosse opens Margo Vandeveld era with impressive 18-4 victory at Adrian (Mich.)

ADRIAN, Mich. — The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team opened the Margo Vandeveld era and its 2024 season with an impressive 18-4 victory at Adrian (Mich.) on Wednesday evening.

The Game
- Sophomore Rylie Kocik (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) led the Polar Bears with seven points on five goals and two assists.
- Senior Elizabeth Graham (Dayton/Carroll) and sophomore Elana Martin (Youngstown/Martin) each had four goals and an assist.
- Junior Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) added a goal and three assists.
- Northern led 3-1 after the first period and 7-2 at halftime. The polar Bears put the game away with a 7-1 third quartter to lead 14-3 entering the final 15 mninutes.
- Senior Chloe Millicen (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeasterm) had six saves in goal on 10 shots on goal for ONU.
- Ohio Northern out-shot Adrian 39-17, and enjoyed a 41-21 advantage in ground balls.
Notables
- Kocik now has 35 goals and 42 points in 12 career games. This was her eighth career hat trick.
- This was Graham's sixth hat trick in three seasons at ONU.
- Burden is ONU's all-time career leader with 61 career assists and now ranks fourth with 108 career points. She now has 5 career hat tricks.
- The game was the first of a season-opening 8-game road trip.
- Head coach Margo Vandeveld is in her first season at Ohio Northern and has a 1-0 record.
