Sydney Motylinski's two home runs lead Softball to 6-1, 8-1 sweep of Wooster

ADA — Fifth-year senior Sydney Motylinski (Ida, Mich.) smacked a pair of home runs and had six RBI to lead the Ohio Northern softball team to a double header sweep of non-conference foe Wooster on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
The Basics
- ONU won the opener 6-1 and took the nightcap 8-1.

Game 1 - W, 6-1
- Northern scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning to build an early 5-0 lead.
- Motylinski started and ended the rally, scoring the first run of the game on a double by freshman Ashley Simko (Lebanon).
- Her two-out, bases loaded walk scored junior Ashley Lenser (Brookville) with the fifth run of the inning.
- Sophomore Kylie King (London/Alder) hit a sac fly to score Motylinski with an insurance run in the fifth.
- Senior Kayla Runyon (Tipp City) scattered five hits and allowed only one earned run to earn the win in the circle to improve to 3-5 on the season.
- Junior Callie Rosser (Republic/Monroeville) went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for ONU.
- Each team had five hits in the game.
Game 2 - W, 8-1
- Motylinski went 2-for-3 with two home runs and 5 RBI to lead ONU in the nightcap.
- Senior Kaylie Griffin (Grafton/Elyria Catholic) doubled home Lenser in the bottom of the first to get ONU on the board.
- Motylinski then followed with a 3-run bomb off the new scoreboard to plate Griffin and Rosser to make it 4-0.
- Griffin singled home Lenser in the second to increase the lead to 5-0.
- Griffin scored on a wild pitch in the fourth and the lead was 6-1.
- Motylinski wrapped up the scoring with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to cap her 6 RBI day.
- Freshman Taylor Keck (Wadsworth) improved to 2-0 with the complete-game victory in the circle.
- Griffin finished game two going 3-for-4 wth 3 runs scored and 2 RBI.
- Ohio Northern out-hit Wooster 13-6 in the contest.
Notables
- The Polar Bears wrapped up an 8-game homestand at brand-new Durbin-Hileman Stadium.
- Motylinski now has 20 home runs in her career at Ohio Northern, which moves her into fourth place in school history.
- She also has 128 career base hits and 84 career RBI.
- Griffin had three hits on Sunday and now has 94 for her career. She needs just six more to become the 46th member of ONU's 100-Hit Club.
- Rosser, Motylinski and Lenser lead Ohio Northern in batting through 18 games this season with averages of .436, .400 and .396.
- Lenser is also 4-1 with 28 strikeouts and a 66 ERA in 29 innings in the circle.
