ADA — Junior Tyrese Barker (Columbus/Bishop Hartley) broke his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles to lead the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team to a sixth place finish at the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday.

  • The Polar Bears placed sixth of 13 teams, scoring 59 points.
  • Mount Union won the team title with 118 points, Baldwin Wallace was second with 100.5 points and Otterbein was third with 96.5 points.

  • Barker finished third in the 60 hurdles in :08.28, beating his previous record by .06 of a second.
  • Barker also finished second in the high jump by clearing 1.92 meters.
  • The 4x400-meter relay team of junior Jordan Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela Saint Joseph), freshman Grant Conn (Medina/Buckeye Senior), sophomore Zach O'Neill (Holland/Maumee Valley Country Day) and senior Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) won the final event of the meet in 3:24.97.
  • Senior Ian Ackenhausen (Xenia/Legacy Christian Academy) was third in the 3,000 in 8:51.84.
  • Senior Tommy Vetrovsky (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) was third in the weight throw with a toss of 16.67 meters.
  • Junior J.T. Basco (Painesville/Harvey), Conn, junior Corey Rinehart (Galena/Olentangy Berlin) and junior Bo Little (Washington Court House/Miami Trace) were fourth in the distance medley relay in 10:37.91.
  • O'Neill, fifth-year senior Hunter Kesler (Oakwood/Paulding), freshman Martin Kreider (Clarksville/Clinton-Massie) and Solomon Lumb (Cincinnati/Sycamore).

Notables

  • Barker's record is the third for the Polar Bear men this weekend, as senior Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) and Dean broke their own records in the shot and 400, respectively, Friday night at the Grand Valley State (Mich.) Big Meet.
  • Several of Ohio Northern top performers did not compete in the meet, as they competed Friday night at the Grand Valley State (Mich.) Big Meet, making ONU's sixth place finish more impressive
