Digby wins twice, breaks meet record in shot put to lead Men's Indoor Track and Field to victory at annual Joe Banks Invitational

ADA — Senior All-American Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) won two events, including a meet-record effort in the shot put, to lead the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team to a victory at the annual Joe Banks Invitational on Friday night.

Meet Results
- The Polar Bears finished with 178 points to finish first of five teams.
- Rose-Hulman (Ind.) was second with 140 points, Otterbein was third with 117, Rochester (Mich.) was fourth with 70 and Bluffton was fifth with 64.
Top ONU Performers
- Digby won the shot put with a meet-record toss of 16.74 meters. Senior Tommy Vetrovsky (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) was third with a mark of 13.89 meters.
- Digby also led an impressive ONU effort in the weight throw as the Polar Bears scored all 39 points in the event, finishing 1-2-3-4-5-6-7.
- Digby won with a heave of 17.17m and Vetrovsky was second at 16.53m.
- Freshman Grant Conn (Medina/Buckeye Senior) and sophomore Ben Zimmerer (Liberty Township/Lakota West) finished 1-2 in the 500 in 1:10.70 and 1:11.91, respectively.
- Northern finished 1-2-3 in the 1000. Senior Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) won the event in 2:35.79, senior Aaron Guzman (Lebanon) was second in 2:35.82 and senior Braden Schaser (Fostoria/Lakota) was third in 2:38.49.
- Schaser, junior Corey Rinehart (Galena/Olentangy Berlin), junior J.T. Basco (Painesville/Harvey) and senior Kyle Roth (Rockford/Parkway) began the meet by winning the distance medley relay in 11:01.98.
- Junior Trey Masterson (Tiffin/Hopewell-Loudon) was second in the 1-mile in 4:19.22.
- Freshman Cameron Shively (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) was second in the pole vault, clearing 4.20 meters.
- Junior Tyrese Barker (Columbus/Bishop Hartley) was second in the 60 hurdles in 8.42 seconds
- Sophomore Zach O'Neill (Holland/Maumee Valley Country Day), sophomore Solomon Lumb (Cincinnati/Sycamore, freshman Martin Kreider (Clarksville/Clinton-Massie) and freshman Carter Byers (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) were second in the 4x200 relay in 1:33.01.
- Conn, Zimmerer, junior Mitchel Vance (Bellefontaine/Benjamin Logan) and Myers finished second in the 4x400 relay in 3:34.88.
Notables
- The meet consisted of 19 events, 10 individual running events, six field events and three running relays.
- Digby bettered the previous meet record in the shot put of 16.60 meters set in 2012 by Tom Posterna of Defiance.
- Northern used depth to post its victory, as the Polar Bears won just five of the 19 events.
