Barker, Digby lead Men's Indoor Track and Field at Findlay Oiler Opener

FINDLAY — Junior Tyrese Barker (Columbus/Bishop Hartley) broke his own school record to win the 60-meter hurdles, and All-American senior Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) won the shot put to lead the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team to begin the 2023-24 season at the Findlay Oiler Opener on Friday.

Meet Results
- The Polar Bears placed fourth of 14 teams, scoring 27 points.
- Findlay won the team title with 220.5 points followed by Tiffin with 98 points and Hillsdale (Mich.) with 68 points.
Top ONU Performers
- Barker won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of :08.42. He was the top qualifier from the prelims after posting a time of :08.34.
- Digby posted a mark of 17.11 meters to win the shot put. He also tied for eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 14.97 meters.
- Freshman C.J. Boothby (Milford/Clermont Northeastern) placed fourth in the heptathlon, which was contested on Thursday and Friday, with 4,161 points. He won the 60-meter dash (:06.99), was second in the long jump (6.44 meters), third in the 60-meter hurdles (:09.07), ninth in the high jump (1.70 meters) and pole vault (3.20 meters), 10th in the shot put (10.38 meters) and 11th in the 1,000-meter run (3:29.66).
- Freshman Cameron Shively (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) tied for sixth in the pole vault with a height of 4.37 meters.
- Senior Tommy Vetrovsky (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) placed 10th in the weight throw with a mark of 14.64 meters and was 12th in the shot put with a mark of 13.10 meters.
Notables
- Barker entered the season holding the school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of :08.51.
- Digby, a two-time Ohio Athletic Conference champion in the indoor shot put and an All-American in the event last season, fell just short of his school-record mark of 17.13 meters.
- Boothby's time in the 60-meter dash portion of the heptathlon is tied for fifth all-time at ONU.
