Men's Tennis opens Transylvania (Ky.) Winter Invite with tight 5-4 loss against Greenville (Ill.)

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team opened the Transylvania (Ky.) Winter Invite with a tight 5-4 loss to Greenville (Ill.) indoors on Saturday afternoon.
The Basics

- Venue: Top Seed Tennis Center - Nicholasville, Ky.
The Match
- Sophomore T.J. Schultz (Grand Blanc, Mich.) led Ohio Northern with a 2-0 record on the day.
- The Polar Bears won the 1 and 2 doubles courts to enter the singles play ahead 2-1.
- Schultz and junior Sam Sran (Punjab, India/St. Stephens and Gian Jyoti Global) won 8-4 at No. 1 to give ONU a 1-0 lead.
- Junior Peyton Specht (Munster, Ind.) and freshman Tyler Wood (Toledo/St. John's Jesuit) won at No. 2 doubles 8-5 and Northern led 2-0.
- Schultz and freshman Ashton Hesson (Grand Blanc, Mich.) won at Nos. 3 and 4 singles, respectively, as Northern led 4-2 with three courts remaining.
- But the Panthers won win the final three matches to grab the 5-4 win.
Notables
- The Polar Bears are now 1-1 all-time against the Panthers.
- Second-year head coach Sean Swisher is now 17-11 at the helm of the ONU men's tennis team, a winning percentage of 607.
