Men’s Tennis gets 6-3 win over Springfield (Mass.) on spring break trip

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team defeated Springfield (Mass.) 6-3 on Thursday in the penultimate game of its spring break trip at the Lake Cane Tennis Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 5-5 overall while dropping the Pride to 6-5.
Northern trailed 2-1 after doubles play, getting an 8-3 victory at No. 3 from sophomore Tristan Munteanu (Draper, Utah/Corner Canyon) and freshman T.J. Schultz (Grand Blanc, Mich.).
ONU stormed back to take five of the six singles courts to secure the victory.
Munteanu won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, sophomore Peyton Specht (Munster, Ind.) won 4-6, 6-2, 10-7 at No. 2, sophomore Sam Sran (Punjab, India/St. Stephens and Gian Jyoti Global) won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3, junior Kavya Desai (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) won 6-1, 7-6 at No. 4, and freshman Nico Rogel (Alicante, Spain/Hoosac) won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5.
Sran leads the team in victories on the season and is 19-13 overall, including 11-6 in singles play.
Rogel is 18-7 overall, Munteanu is 18-12, and Desai is 17-8.
The Polar Bears return to action on Friday to close out their spring break schedule against Macalester (Minn.) at 2:30 p.m.
