Men’s Tennis opens Spring Break trip with 7-2 win over Emerson (Mass.)

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team opened its 2023 Spring Break trip with a 7-2 win over Emerson (Mass.) on Sunday at the USTA Courts.
The Polar Bears improve to 4-3 overall while dropping the Lions to 0-8.
Northern won two of the three doubles matches.
Sophomore Sam Sran (Punjab, India/St. Stephens and Gian Jyoti Global) and freshman T.J. Schultz (Grand Blanc, Mich.) won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, and sophomore Tristan Munteanu (Draper, Utah/Corner Canyon) and junior Kavya Desai (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
The Polar Bears proceeded to win five of the six singles matches to clinch the 7-2 victory.
Sophomore Peyton Specht (Munster, Ind.) won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, Sran won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3, Desai won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4, sophomore Drew Swisher (Findlay) won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5, and freshman Nico Rogel (Alicante, Spain/Hoosac) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
The Polar Bears return to action on Tuesday for a 7:30 a.m. match against Bentley (Mass.).
