Vinh Thai joins 100-Win Club, leads Men's Tennis to 9-0 victory over Marietta

CIRCLEVILLE — Senior Vinh Thai (Galloway/St.Charles) became the the 23rd member of ONU's 100-Win Club with a pair of victories, leading the Ohio Northern men's tennis team to a 9-0 victory over Marietta on Saturday afternoon at Circleville High School.
ONU improves to 16-4 overall and 3-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Pioneers fall to 3-8, 0-3.
Thai reached the 100-win mark with an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles with senior Zach Beaschler (Ada).
He picked up win No. 101 with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles.
In five seasons at ONU, Thai is 51-29 in singles, 50-35 in doubles and 101-64 overall.
Senior Andrew Cochran (Wooster) won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and joined with freshman Peyton Specht (Munster, Ind.) to win 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Sophomore Isaac Spar (Ada) and freshman Sam Sran (PB, India/St. Stephens and Gian Jyoti Global) won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
Sran won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, Specht won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, Beaschler won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and Spar won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
The Polar Bears are scheduled to return to action Wednesday with a non-conference battle at Wittenberg.
