Men's Tennis improves to 6-2 on season with 9-0 sweep at Transylvania (Ky.)

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. — Freshman Tristan Munteanu (Draper, Utah/Corner Canyon) and senior Andrew Cochran (Wooster) won at Nos. 1 and 2 singles to lead the Ohio Northern men's tennis team to a 9-0 win at Transylvania (Ky.) on Saturday morning at the Top Seed Tennis Center.
The Polar Bears (6-2 overall) finished the Transylvania Pioneer Invite with a 2-1 record after defeating Greenville (Ill.) 7-2 and falling to Asbury (Ky.) 9-0 on Saturday.
The Pioneers fall to 1-2 on the season.
Munteanu won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and Cochran won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
Munteanu and senior Zach Beaschler (Ada) combined to win 8-2 at No. 2 doubles and Cochran coupled with freshman Drew Swisher ( Findlay) to win 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
Swisher won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles to also go 2-0 on the day.
Freshman Peyton Specht (Munster, Ind.) was the fourth ONU player to go 2-0 on the morning, winning 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and 8-4 at No. 1 doubles with junior Matt Garcia (Downers Grove, Ill./South).
Freshman Sam Sran (PB, India/St. Stephens and Gian Jyoti Global) won 7-5, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.
Senior Vinh Thai (Galloway/St. Charles) won 6-1, 6-3
The Polar Bears will return to action next Sunday at Wooster.
