Men's Tennis tops Concordia (Minn.) 6-3, falls to Midway (Ky.) 4-3 on first day of Spring Break trip

ORLANDO/KISSIMMEE, Fla. — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team opened its spring break trip with a 6-3 victory over Concordia (Minn.) and a 4-3 loss to Midway (Ky.) on Monday.
The Polar Bears (4-3 overall) downed the Cobbers (2-8) on Saturday night at Oak Street Park in Kissimmee after falling to the NAIA Eagles (2-5) at the Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando on Monday morning.
Sophomore Andrew Cochran (Wooster) was 3-1 on the day to lead ONU. Cochran was 2-0 at No. 5 singles, won at No. 2 doubles and fell at No. 3 doubles.
Junior Vinh Thai (Galloway/Saint Charles) was 2-1 with a 1-1 mark at No. 1 singles with both matches going to a third-set tiebreaker and was 1-0 at No. 1 doubles with freshman Matt Garcia (Downers Grove, Ill./South).
In all, ONU was 7-5 in singles play and 3-3 in doubles action in the two highly competitive matches.
The polar Bears will continue their trip on Wednesday with an 11:30 am match against NAIA foe Cedarville at the USTA Tennis Campus in Orlando.
