Men's Tennis clinches share of 2011 OAC Regular Season title with 9-0 win at Wilmington

CINCINNATI — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team clinched at least a share of the 2011 Ohio Athletic Confernce Regular Season title with a 9-0 victory over Wilmington at The Club at Harper's Point Wednesday afternoon.
The Polar Bears improve to 13-3 overall and are 8-0 in OAC action, while the Quakers fall to 0-8, 0-6.
The OAC Regular Season title in the second straight and the fifth since the OAC began recognizing an OAC regular season champion in 2003.
ONU also clinched the No. 1 seed in next week's OAC Tournament.
Ohio Northern made quick work of the Quakers, winning all but two games in the match.
Five of the six singles matches were won by 6-0, 6-0 scores, led by sophomore Joey Frank at No.1 singles.
Freshman Do Thai (No. 3), junior Nick Kowalczyk (No. 4), freshman Josh Saunders (No. 5) and senior Jeff Carter (No. 6) also won 6-0, 6-0.
Junior Michael Kathary posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles.
Northern switched up its doubles lineup and still swept the three matches.
Thai and Carter won 8-0 at No. 1, Frank and Kathary won 8-0 at No. 2 and Kowalczyk and junior Andrew Korba won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
The Polar Bears can win the OAC title outright with a victory at Mount Union on Saturday in their regular season finale.
