Freshman Cameron Marous leads Men's Lacrosse in 18-4 victory over Adrian (Mich.)

ADA — Freshman Cameron Marous (Brecksville) scored four goals and added three assists as the Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team defeated Adrian (Mich.) 18-4 on Tuesday evening at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 4-3 overall, while the Bulldogs fall to 2-4.
Marous posted his third hat trick of the season in the victory.
Sophomores Peter Hardt (Bethpage, N.Y./Plainedge) and Lucas Blaszyk (Spencerport, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) also posted hat tricks for the Polar Bears.
Northern outscored the Bulldogs 3-0 in the first period as Marous scored twice and sophomore Drew Eramo (Hilliard/Bishop Ready) added a third goal.
Adrian would get one back early in the second quarter, before Eramo answered with his second goal of the evening to push ONU ahead 4-1 with 6:03 remaining in the half.
Hardt scored twice and sophomore Nicholas Groves (Fishers, Ind./Chatard) added another goal to push the Northern lead to 7-1 heading into the intermission.
Freshman Logan Krogman (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) wasted no time in adding to the Polar Bear lead as he found the back of the net just 11 seconds into the second half to extend the lead to 8-1.
Marous completed his hat trick early in the second half as he scored at the 12:40 mark of the third quarter to push the lead to 9-1.
Hardt scored his third goal of the evening just over a minute later as freshman Ian Pennino (Vernon, N.J./Pope John XXIII) found him to push the lead to 10-1.
Adrian would score the next two goals of the quarter to help the Bulldogs close the gap to 10-3.
Blaszyk would extend the ONU lead as sophomore Anthony Pavone (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) found Blaszyk to give Northern an 11-3 lead.
Marous would find sophomore Noah St. Croix (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) less than two minutes later to push the ONU lead to 12-3.
Blaszyk would find the back of the net for the second time during the contest at the 2:00 mark in the third quarter after Hardt found the sophomore and helped Northern widen its lead to 13-3.
With just under a minute to play in the third quarter, freshman Samuel Neff (Fairfax Station, Va./Trinity Christian) would add to the ONU lead to give the Polar Bears a comfortable 14-3 lead heading into the final period.
Freshman Kevin Giles (Williamsburg, Va./Warhill) got in the scoring column just over a minute into the fourth quarter as he found the back of the net to extend the lead to 15-3.
St. Croix scored his second goal of the game as Marous found him with 11:14 remaining in the contest to push the lead 16-3.
Blaszyk would complete his hat trick with 8:39 remaining in the contest as he scored a contested goal and extended the lead to 17-3.
Freshman Patrick Berthelsen-Leon (Bethpage, N.Y.) would score the final goal for ONU with 6:29 remaining in the contest to seal the 18-4 victory.
Northern outshot Adrian by a 47-18 margin in the victory.
Sophomore Alex Pizarro (Boonsboro, Md.) earned the victory in the goal for the Polar Bears to improve to 3-1 on the year.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday as they travel to Stubenville to take on the Barons of Franciscan at 1 p.m.
