Late rally falls short as Football drops 31-21 decision to Baldwin Wallace

ADA — The Ohio Northern football team saw its comeback attempt fall short in a 31-21 loss to Baldwin Wallace on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Basics

The Game
- Sophomore Brennon Norris (Stuebenville/Indian Creek) completed 20-of-31 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown and ran seven times for 11 yards and another score for ONU.
- Freshman Seth Borondy (Bellbrook) ran 15 times for 67 yards and a score for the Polar Bears.
- Baldwin Wallace scored on its first three possessions to lead 21-0 two plays into the second quarter.
- Norris scored on a 3-yard run to get ONU within 21-7 with 10:16 left in the half.
- After BW made it 28-7, Borondy ran in from 33 yards out with 3:35 left in the third to make it 28-14.
- Trailing 31-14, Brennon hit senior L.J. Payton (Wheelersburg) on a nifty 40-yard touchdown pass and run, and Northern was within 31-21 with 9:37 left in the game.
- The Polar Bear defense held, and ONU drove to the BW 17-yard line with three minutes remaining in the game.
- But Northern's 34-yard field goal attempt was blocked, and the Yellow Jackets were able to run out the clock.
- Defensively, junior Dalton Tjong (Cumming, Ga./West Forsyth) had 12 tackles, and seniors Josh Bever (Ashland) and Tyler Irigoyen (Palm Coast, Fla./Flagler Palm Coast) each had 10 tackles for the Polar Bears.
- BWU out-gained ONU in total offense 386-366.

- The Polar Bears are now 62-32 in 20 seasons of play at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
- Dean Paul is in his 20th season as head coach of the Polar Bears with a 118-74 career record at ONU.
- ONU now trails the all-time series with BWU by a 33-14-1 margin, including a 5-4 mark at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
- Today's game was the third home game in a row for the Polar Bears. ONU will now be on the road at #2 Mount Union, at #19 John Carroll and at Muskingum before returning home for its Homecoming game against Marietta on Oct. 28.
