Senior Chad Coward named First Team All-Ohio by Ohio College Football.com
ADA — Ohio Northern senior safety Chad Coward was named First Team All-Ohio in football for 2011 in voting conducted by Ohio College Football.com.
Coward is a two-time First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree, was named Third Team All-North Region and led the Polar Bears in tackles with 85 this season.
He also had two interceptions, four PBUs, two blocked kicks, two forced fumbles and 1.5 tackles for loss.
Coward led ONU in tackles in each of the past two seasons and ended his career with 201 stops.
He also ranks seventh all-time at ONU with 11 career interceptions.
Coward will also represent the United States and Ohio Northern when he competes for Team Stars & Stripes against a team of Mexican collegiate all-stars in the 2011 Tazon de Estrellas Dec. 17 in Puebla, Mexico.
The Polar Bears finished the 2011 campaign with a 6-4 record and posted their 16th consecutive upper division finish in the OAC with a 5-4 mark under eighth-year head coach Dean Paul.
