Knapschaefer, Webb, Jeanor, Stechschulte named Academic All-District in Baseball by College Sports Communicators

ADA — Ohio Northern seniors Tim Knapschaefer (Maria Stein/Marion Local) and Nate Webb (Bath, Ind./Union County), junior Corey Jeanor (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central) and sophomore Andrew Stechschulte (Findlay) were named 2023 Academic All-District in baseball by College Sports Communicators.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, each student-athlete must have at least a 3.5 GPA and have played in at least 50 percent of his team's games or pitched at least 10 innings during the season.
Knapschaefer earned Ohio Athletic Conference Honorable Mention honors this season after tallying a team-high 71 strikeouts on the mound to go with a 3-3 record with one save and a 4.60 ERA in 13 appearances, including 12 starts, spanning 60.2 innings. He ranked fourth in the OAC in strikeouts.
The mechanical engineering major is now a two-time All-OAC selection after earning Second Team recognition in 2022. In four seasons at ONU, Knapschaefer is 8-10 with three saves to go with a 4.44 ERA and 167 strikeouts in 33 appearances, including 25 starts, spanning 142 innings. He ranks 12th all-time at ONU in career strikeouts.
Webb, a mechanical engineering major, batted .265 with 39 hits, 10 doubles, six home runs, 29 RBIs and 25 runs in 42 games, including 40 starts, in 2023. He ranked second on the team in doubles, tied for second in RBIs and third in home runs.
In four years at ONU, Webb has played in 108 games and has a career .291 average with 109 hits, 27 doubles, one triple, 19 home runs, 81 RBIs and 73 runs. He is tied for eighth all-time at ONU in career home runs.
Jeanor, a sports management major, played in 23 games with 17 starts in 2023 and batted .203 with 12 hits, three doubles, three home runs, eight RBIs and eight runs in his first season of action at ONU.
An accounting major, Stechschulte was an All-OAC First Team selection this season after posting a .231 batting average, 30 hits, eight doubles, one triple, 13 RBIs, 16 runs and eight steals in 37 games, including 35 starts. Defensively, he posted a .979 fielding percentage and .471 caught-stealing percentage, throwing out 24 of 51 base-stealers.
In 45 career games at ONU, Stechschulte has a .233 batting average with 34 hits, including nine doubles, to go with 16 RBIs and 21 runs.
The 2023 Academic All-District Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 7.
Under 12th-year head coach Gene Stechschulte, the Polar Bears finished 27-15 overall in 2023, placing third in the OAC with a 12-6 league mark en route to earning their 20th all-time appearance in the OAC Tournament.
