ADA — Despite a 30-9 record and a No. 16 national ranking, the Ohio Northern baseball team was left out of the NCAA III Tournament on Monday.
The Polar Bears were fighting for one of the 14 at-large bids into the 56-team field, which was divided into eight regional tournaments.
In the Ohio Athletic Conference, No. 7 Baldwin Wallace and No. 9 Heidelberg received at-large bids and Marietta received the league's automatic bid by winning the OAC Tournament.
ONU finished tied for second in the OAC with Baldwin Wallace, Marietta and John Carroll, but missed the OAC Tournament in the tiebreaking procedure.
The Polar Bears are 90-65 in the last four seasons under fourth-year head coach Gene Stechschulte and their 58 victories in the last two seasons is the most in ONU history.
