Saturday's Preview: The Ohio Northern men's cross country team will compete in the 2022 OAC Championships at the Muskingum Cross Country Course … The women's 6k race begins at 1 p.m. with the men's race following at 2 p.m. … The top 20 scoring finishers (top 7 on their respective teams) will receive All-OAC honors, with 1st Team kudos going to placers 1-10 and 2nd Team honors to placers 11-20 ... ONU was 3rd of 10 teams with 70 points a year ago ... Seniors Tessa Pitcovich and Taylor Ellerbrock and junior Megan Vapenik Vapenik are returning All-OAC honorees from a year ago ... Pitcovich finished second of 120 runners in 23:17, while Ellerbrock was 13th in 24:12 and Vapenik was 22nd in 24:47 ... Northern is coming off a 10th place finish at the 32-team Oberlin Rumble on Oct. 15 ... The Polar Bears scored 302 points ... Vapenik led ONU across the finish line, placing 32nd of 282 runners with a career-best time of 23:16 on the 6,000-meter course ... Sophomore Ashley Hockstok was 59th in 23:40, freshman Kennedy Rader was 62nd in 23:42, sophomore Bailey Kreft was 75th in 23:58, freshman Samantha Roth was 80th in 24:05, junior Olesya Mertz was 87th in 24:10 Ellerbrock was 102nd in 24:29 and sophomore Olyvia Ashbrook was 109th in 24:36 ... Hockstok, Rader and Kreft joined Vapenik in setting career-best times at the meet
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 14th year as head coach of the ONU men's and women's cross country teams and is the winningest coach in school history for both programs … He has guided the men's team to a 1,151-467 record, a winning percentage of .711, and three OAC titles.
