Senior McKenna Jordan reaches 1,000-kill plateau as #15 Volleyball defeats Earlham (Ind.)

ADA — Senior McKenna Jordan (Toledo/St. Ursula) surpassed the 1,000-kill plateau for her career, leading the No. 15-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team to a 25-20, 21-25, 25-20, 25-13 victory over Earlham (Ind.) on Thursday night at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears (12-3 overall) run their win streak to six consecutive matches, while the Quakers fall to 9-5.
Jordan finished the night with 12 kills, giving her 1,010 in her 106 career matches.
Senior All-American Chelsea Huppert (Bremen, Ind.) had a match-high 15 kills, sophomore Kiki Carle (Cincinnati/Mother of Mercy) dished out 47 assists and senior McKenna Hostetler (Plain City/Alter) had 28 digs for ONU.
EC was led by Julia Stewart and Caroline Mulvihill with 13 kills each.
Northern led wire-to-wire in the opening set, jumping to a 12-6 lead and cruising from there.
In Set 2, ONU led 21-20 before the Quakers ended the set on a 5-0 run to even the match at 1-1.
A 6-0 run in set three gave the Polar Bears an early 9-4 run.
The lead was 14-10 with a 5-0 run extended the lead to 19-10. EC answered with a 5-0 run to get back within 19-15, but Northern scored five of the next seven points togo up 24-17.
In the final set, a 6-1 run by the hosts gave ONU a 7-3 lead. A 9-1 run extended the lead to 18-7 and the lead eventually grew to 20-8.
Ohio Northern hit .217 as a team with 54 kills and 16 errors on 175 attempts, while Earlham hit .137 with 50 kills and 25 errors on 183 attempts.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Wednesday when a non-conference match against Hiram at 7 pm at the ONU Sports Center.
