No. 21 Volleyball runs win streak to five matches with 4-set victory at Denison

GRANVILLE — No. 21-ranked Ohio Northern ran its winning streak to five matches with a 25-18, 21-25, 25-19, 25-x victory at Denison on Tuesday evening at Livingston Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears improve to 6-2 overall, while the Big Red fall to 4-4.
Freshman Megan Mahon (Amelia/West Clermont) had 15 kills, senior All-American Chelsea Huppert (Bremen, Ind.) added nine kills and six blocks and freshman Madison Kern (Loveland/Mount Notre Dame) had six kills and a career-high eight blocks for Ohio Northern.
Denison was led by Emma Woerner with 11 kills and Lucy Anderson with nine kills.
Trailing 4-0 in the fourth set, the Polar Bears came out of an early timeout and went on a 16-1 run to take a commanding 16-5 lead en route to the 25-xx match-clinching win.
In the opening set, ONU used a 5-1 run to grab an 18-13 advantage and held on for the 25-18 win.
DU ended Set 2 on a 6-1 run to overcome a 20-19 deficit and win 25-21.
In set three, a pair of 4-1 runs by Ohio Northern gave the visitors leads of 14-11 and 20-16. ONU then scored five of the final six points to take the set 25-19.
ONU hit .170 for the match with 51 kills and 20 errors in 182 attempts, while DU hit .054 with 38 kills and 28 errors in 186 attempts.
Defensively, senior McKenna Hostetler (Plain City/Alder) had a career-high 44 digs from her libero position for Ohio Northern.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday at the Wittenberg Classic with matches against No. 15 Wisconsin-Whitewater and No. 4 Berry (Ga.)
