This Weekend's Preview: The #15-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball program continues their 2018 nonconference slate when the Polar Bears travel to Kenyon this evening, Wednesday, September 19 ... Match time is set for 7 p.m. at the Kenyon Athletic Center in Gambier, Ohio ... Northern returns to the court after putting together a 2-1 weekend at the Wittenberg Fall Classic, knocking off No. 17-ranked Hope (Mich.) and Mary Washington (Va.) in straight sets before falling 3-1 to tournament host and No. 4-ranked Wittenberg ... Former All-American and current junior middle hitter Chelsea Huppert provided 39 kills over the weekend on a .434 hitting percentage, which earned her OAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week honors and a spot on the All-Tournament Team ... Junior outside hitter Sydney Bapst was next in line offensively, compiling 24 kills and seven digs over the three matches ... Meanwhile, sophomore setter Katie Wade registered 107 assists on the weekend ... Defensively, junior defensive specialist/libero McKenna Hostetler guided the Polar Bears with 54 total digs over the two-day event ... Through 12 matches this season, Huppert leads the team and is second in the OAC with 149 kills while junior McKenna Jordan stands second on the team and 10th in the OAC with 112 kills ... Huppert, senior Josie Andres, and freshman Madi Ellis rank second, fourth, and sixth, in the OAC with hitting percentages of .383, .333, and .327, respectively ... Sophomore Madison Broering stands third in the OAC with 230 digs and sophomore Katie Wade leads the league in assists with an average of 10.57 per game ... As a team, Ohio Northern sits second with a .251 hitting percentage and 831 digs while also ranking third with 590 kills ... Huppert's current career hitting percentage of .345 is the third-best in ONU history ... Wade now ranks 7th all-time in ONU history with 1,834 career assists after jumping two spots with her weekend efforts.
