ONU alumnus Emily Richards to compete in 800 meters at USATF Outdoor Championships

ADA — Ohio Northern alumnus Emily Richards has qualified for the 2022 USATF Outdoor Championships meet that will be held June 23-26 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
Richards will run the women's 800 meters event and enters with a seed time of 2:00.27. The time needed to qualify was 2:00.50.
The top qualifier is Athing Mu, who enters with a time of 1:55.04.
The event consists of 32 runners and three rounds. The first round is scheduled for Thursday at 7:25 p.m. ET. Richards will run in Lane 8 in the fourth of four heats in the round.
The semifinals will be on Friday at 11:02 p.m. ET, and the final will be on Sunday at 4:54 p.m. ET.
Friday's events will air on CNBC from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET, Saturday's events will air on NBC from 4-6 p.m. ET, and Sunday's events will air on NBC from 4-5 p.m. ET and on USA from 5-6 p.m. ET. Live coverage can be streamed at USATF.TV.
Richards, who turned professional in 2018, was a nine-time NCAA champion and 13-time All-American in track and field and cross country during her four years as a Polar Bear student-athlete from 2015 to 2018.
She currently serves as an assistant track and field and cross country coach at ONU.
