Women’s Outdoor Track and Field competes at St. Francis (Ill.) Invite and Harrison Dillard Twilight

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team posted four top-10 finishes competing in the St. Francis (Ill.) Fighting Chance Invite and Baldwin Wallace's Harrison Dillard Twilight on Friday.
The Polar Bears (16-4 overall) are competing as a split squad at this weekend's events, neither of which are being team scored.
Senior Rue Whitmore (Mason) led Northern at the St. Francis (Ill.) Invite with a fourth-place finish in the open section of the 5,000 meters, running a time of 19:27.45.
Senior Taylor Ellerbrock (Columbus Grove) finished 10th in the open section of the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:49.97.
Freshman Toria Ingalls (Tiffin/Columbian) placed just outside the top 10 with an 11th-place finish in the high jump as she matched her season-best mark of 1.51 meters.
Freshman Ashley Hockstock (Westerville/Central) was the top ONU placer at the Harrison Dillard Twilight, finishing fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:53.19.
Freshman Sami Sellers (Van Wert/Lincolnview) finished ninth in the discus throw with a distance of 39.34 meters, and she placed 11th in the shot put with a season-best mark of 11.29 meters.
Freshman Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) placed 12th in the shot put with a mark of 10.99 meters, and freshman Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) was 13th with a distance of 10.72 meters.
Friend was 14th in the hammer throw with a season-best mark of 43.17 meters, and freshman Tarrah BeVier (Johnstown/Northridge) added a 16th-place finish in the shot put with a season-best mark of 10.40 meters.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday to close out both of the two-day meets. The Harrison Dillard Twilight was originally scheduled as a one-day meet, but the javelin was rescheduled for Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
