Meet Previews: The Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team is competing in split-squad events this week with some athletes going to the two-day St. Francis (Ill.) Fighting Chance Invite on Friday and Saturday and some going to the Harrison Dillard Twilight at Baldwin Wallace on Friday … In the Fighting Chance Invite, field events begin at 1 p.m. (CDT), and running events begin at 5:30 p.m. (CDT) on Friday ... On Saturday, field events begin at 12 p.m. (CDT), and eunning events begin at 1 p.m. (CDT) … In Friday's Harrison Dillard Twilight, field events begin at 2 p.m., and running events begin at 4 p.m. … The Polar Bears are coming off a third-place finish in the OAC Championships meet last Thursday and Friday … The team scored 105.5 points, finishing behind Mount Union (258) and John Carroll (198.5) … Junior Anna Schatzle won the conference championship in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.62 meters … Northern had five other All-OAC performances at the meet … Sophomore Olivia Ogg placed second behind Schatzle in the pole vault … Senior Tessa Pitcovich finished second in the 10,000 meters, running a time of 36:08.18, which surpassed her previous best mark by roughly 18 seconds and moved her into second place on ONU's all-time list … Pitcovish also posted a third-place finish in the 5,000 meters … Senior Mackenzie Detmer placed third in the triple jump … Freshman Olyvia Ashbrook finished third in the 400-meter hurdles … The Polar Bears currently have two season-best performances that rank inside the top 50 in the country … Schatzle ranks 21st in the pole vault with a mark of 3.70 meters, and Pitcovich ranks 27th in the 10,000 meters with a time of 36:08.18 … The top 22 individuals and top 16 relay teams qualify for the NCAA Championships scheduled for May 26-28 in Geneva, Ohio … Only one team per relay event per school is eligible to qualify for nationals.
