Women’s Outdoor Track and Field posts 11 top-3 finishes to close Oberlin Invitational

OBERLIN — The Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team notched 11 top-three finishes Saturday to close the two-day Bob Kahn Invitational at Kahn Track on the campus of Oberlin College.
The Polar Bears posted five second-place efforts and six third-place finishes at the meet, which was not team scored.
Senior Taylor Ellerbrock (Columbus Grove) placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, posting a time of 12:05.40.
Freshman Olyvia Ashbrook (Johnstown/Northridge) was second in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in a time of 1:06.09, which is ninth-fastest in program history.
Freshman Toria Ingalls (Tiffin/Columbian) placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.48 meters.
Freshman Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) was second in the discus with a throw of 37.22 meters, which is sixth-best all-time at ONU.
The 4x400 relay team of Ashbrook, sophomore J.J. Herron (Miamisburg) and juniors Gabrielle Kowalczyk (Marion/Pleasant) and Lexi Neff (Northfield/Walsh Jesuit) posted a second-place finish with a time of 4:14.45.
Senior Tessa Pitcovich (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) placed third in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:55.54, Kowalczyk was third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:27.54, and Herron posted a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:11.13.
In the field events, freshman Chloe Gibson (Ostrander/Buckeye Valley) was third in the long jump with a mark of 5.00 meters, freshman Rylie Barrington (Waynesfield/Waynesfield-Goshen) was third in the triple jump with a distance of 9.83 meters, and freshman Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) placed third in the shot put with a mark of 10.49 meters.
The Polar Bears added six more top-five finishes on the day.
Barrington was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:14.91, Burman finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 36.42 meters, and senior Mackenzie Detmer (Liberty Center) was fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 9.64 meters.
Gibson placed fifth in the 100 meters with a time of :13.33, Friend was fifth in the shot put with a distance of 10.31 meters, and sophomore Oleysa Mertz (Johnstown) was fifth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:03.97.
The Polar Bears return to action on Monday with select team members competing in the Indiana Tech Invitational.
