Krause leads solid effort by Women's Track and Field on first day of Hillsdale (Mich.) Classic

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Senior All-American Maggie Krause (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) led a solid effort by the Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team on the first day of the Hillsdale (Mich.) Wide Track Classic on Friday at the Biermann Center.
Northern had four place in the top eight of the pole vault, led by Krause with a second place finish by clearing 3.57 meters (11'-8 1/2").
Senior Allison Stevens (Naperville, Ill./Central) was sixth by clearing 3.27m (10'-8 3/4"), freshman Anna Schatzle (Brookville, Ind./Franklin County) was seventh at 3.27m (10'-8 3/4") and freshman Meadow Wistner (Buffalo, N.Y./Wiliamsville North) was eighth at 3.12m (10"-2 3/4").
Sophomore Tessa Pitcovich (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) was tenth in the 3,000-meter run in 10:43.15.
The distance medley relay team of senior Madeleine Routhier (West Unity/Hilltop), freshman Gabrielle Kowalczyk (Marion/Pleasant Local), freshman Lexi Neff (Northfield/Walsh Jesuit) and junior Chyanne Retcher (Ney/Fairview) was fifth in 12:58.41.
The second and final day of the Hillsdale Classic will get underway on Saturday at 10 am.
