National Championships Preview: Senior All-American Ian McVey, senior Avery Ewing, and junior All-American Maggie Krause will each represent the Ohio Northern men's and women's track and field programs this weekend at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio ... McVey will compete in the men's 5,000-meter run; Ewing will be among the field for the women's 800-meter run; and Krause is slate to compete in the women's pole vault competition ... McVey is a two-time All-American and is now a three-time track and field national qualifier in the 5k ... He is also a two-time All-American in cross country, which includes a fifth-place finish at the 2018 national championships ... He enters the weekend with the 10th-fastest time in the 5,000 this season with a 14:24.24 effort ... The senior is slated to compete in the 20-man, 5,000-meter run field at 3:25 p.m. on Saturday ... Ewing is now a four-time national qualifier, having qualified twice in the 4x400-meter relay and twice in the 800-meter run ... She ended 12th overall in the 800 at the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships ... She currently owns the 21st-fastest time in the 22-person field with a career-best 2:13.47 ... Her preliminary race is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday with the finals slated for 1:50 p.m. on Saturday ... Krause is a two-time All-American and a four-time national qualifier in the pole vault ... Krause claimed All-America honors at the 2018 outdoor championships with an eighth-place finish and at the 2019 indoor national meet with a seventh-place mark ... She currently owns the seventh-best effort in the NCAA Division III this season at 3.88 meters (12' 8.75") ... Krause will kick off the weekend for the Polar Bears, competing at 12 p.m. on Thursday afternoon ... Ewing and Krause were both part of the 2018 indoor track and field team who claimed third-place at the national championship meet, the program's highest finish in school history.
