SPRINGFIELD - Senior Emily Brodict leads the Ohio Northern women's soccer team as they fell to Wittenberg Wednesday evening 1-0 at the Edwards-Maurer Field on the campus of Wittenberg University.
The Polar Bears move to 3-4-1 overall, while Wittenberg improves to 4-3-1.
Northern was led by Brodict who recorded four saves in the contest.
Junior Rachel Weigman threatened a goal early for Northern as she fired off a shot in the 4th minute that was saved by the Wittenberg goalkeeper.
In the 18th minute, ONU looked to break the tie once more as freshman McKenna Welsh placed a shot on goal that was once again saved.
Late in the second half, Welsh pressured the Tigers keeper again but the attempt went empty handed sending the contest into overtime.
In the first overtime, Northern outshot the Tigers 2-1 as sophomores Anna Niemeyer and Abbey Oswald both fired off shots for the Polar Bears.
Wittenberg broke the tie in the 103rd minute as they were able to score on a deflected ball, winning 1-0.
Northern returns to action Saturday as they travel to Crestview Hills, Ky. to take on #17 Thomas More.
