ADA — The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team fell 14-8 Wednesday night against Baldwin Wallace in the regular season finale at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
With the loss, the Polar Bears finish the regular season 7-9 overall and 3-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Northern will be the sixth seed in the OAC Tournament and will play in the quarterfinals on Saturday at third-seeded Mount Union.
The Yellow Jackets finish the regular season 7-9, 4-4 and earn the fifth seed in the OAC Tournament.
The balanced ONU scoring attack was led by junior Amanda Wells (Mason) and sophomores Avary Snyder (Uniontown/Lake) and Elizabeth Graham (Riverside/Carroll) with two goals each.
Sophomore Chloe Millican (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) (3-3) had nine saves on 23 shots.
Graham evened the score 5-5 with 8:54 to go in the first half, where the score remained at halftime.
Graham also scored the first goal of the second half to break the tie 6-5 in favor of the Polar Bears.
The Yellow Jackets responded with three unanswered goals to regain the lead 8-6 with 2:09 remaining in the third quarter.
ONU shrank the lead to 8-7 with 1:15 left in the third quarter on a goal by freshman Keaghan Burden (Brunswick), but BW scored six of the next seven goals to pull away for the victory.
The Yellow Jackets out-shot the Polar Bears 34-22 and won the ground ball battle 27-20.
