ADA — Junior Sydney Skelding (North Plainfield, N.J./Dublin) had two goals and an assist to lead the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team in a 9-5 loss to Adrian (Mich.) on Wednesday evening at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears fall to 3-2 overall, while the Bulldogs improve to 2-2.
Skelding scored her first goal at the 15:16 mark of the first half to trim AC's lead to 3-2 and got her second goal with 6:01 left in the first half to pull ONU within 6-4.
She also assisted on a goal by senior Maddie Storr (Clarence, N.Y.) at the 8:26 mark of the opening half to make it 5-3.
Adrian scored three consecutive goals to go up 9-4 with 27:11 left in the game, but freshman Kiersten Schultz (Bethel Park, Pa.) scored with 18:30 left to make it 9-5.
The defenses would take control from there as neither team would be able to score the rest of the game.
Senior Kelli Hill (Worthington) had 10 saves in goal for a .526 save percentage.
Storr's goal was her 99th of her four-year career. She is just one goal away from becoming the fits ONU women's lacrosse player to reach the 100-goal mark in a career.
Adrian out-shot Ohio Northern 29-7 and had a 26-24 advantage in ground balls.
The Polar Bears are scheduled to return to action on Saturday when they play at Franciscan at 1 pm.
