Naugle, McArn score two goals each, lead Women's Lacrosse in 16-8 loss at Otterbein

WESTERVILLE — Juniors Betsy Naugle (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) and Ann McArn (Bay Village/Western Reserve Academy) each scored two goals to lead the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team in a 16-8 loss at Otterbein on Wednesday evening at Memorial Stadium.
The Polar Bears fall to 7-8 overall and are 3-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Cardinals improve to 7-9, 4-3.
Otterbein jumped to a 6-0 lead in the first 11:18 of the game before Naugle found the net off an assist from sophomore Sydney Skelding (North Plainfield, N.J./Dublin) with 14:50 left in the half.
Sophomore Sabra Woodruff (Beavercreek) scored with 10:45 remaining in the half to make it 7-2.
OU scored twice in a span of 24 seconds to extend its lead to 9-2, but junior Maddie Storr (Clarence, N.Y.) answered 17 seconds later to make it 9-3 with 7:11 left.
McArn got ONU within 9-4 at intermission with a goal at the 1:22 mark.
The Cardinals took control by scoring the first six goals of the second half to go up 15-4 with 18:57 remaining.
Northern kept battling however, as Naugle, McArn and junior Jacqui Lohman (Liberty Township/Lakota East) all scored to get Ohio Northern within 15-7 with 9:48 left to play.
OU stopped the ONU run with a goal at the 3:12 mark and freshman Kaitlin Thomson (Johns Creek, Ga./Chattahoochee) wrapped up the scoring with a goal with 2:34 remaining in the contest.
Junior Kelli Hill (Worthington) had 13 saves in goal for the Polar Bears.
Otterbein out shot Ohio Northern 40-19.
The Polar Bears will wrap up their regular season on Saturday with a 1 pm contest against John Carroll on Senior Day at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
