Senior Brynn Serbin named OAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
By Wes Mayberry
ADA — Ohio Northern senior Brynn Serbin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, sponsored by Midstream Lighting, for the week of Nov. 21-27.
This marks Serbin's first career OAC Player of the Week accolade and is the second straight for the Polar Bears, as junior Kristen Luersman (Fort Jennings) earned the honor on Nov. 21.
The recognition comes after Serbin stuffed the stat sheet in a pair of games last week as the Polar Bears fell 64-60 to Ohio Wesleyan before getting a 53-50 win at No. 8 Trine (Ind.).
In Tuesday's home game against OWU, Serbin scored a team-high 18 points to go with seven rebounds, six assists and two steals in 34 minutes of action.
She followed that up with a team-best 14 points, nine rebounds and four assists in 37 minutes of play at Trine as Northern improved to 4-1 on the season.
The 2019-20 OAC Freshman of the Year and three-time All-OAC selection currently ranks seventh in program history with 154 career steals and is tied for 16th all-time at ONU with 184 assists.
Through five games this season, Serbin is averaging 13 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
The Polar Bears return to the court on Saturday when they host No. 19 Marietta in their OAC opener at 4 p.m.
