ADA — Ohio Northern junior Kristen Luersman (Fort Jennings) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, sponsored by Midstream Lighting, for the week of Nov. 14-20.
This marks Luersman's second career OAC Player of the Week accolade after earning the honor once as a sophomore last season.
The latest recognition comes after Luersman recorded her second career double-double in the Polar Bears' 84-67 win at Anderson (Ind.) last Wednesday.
Her stat line included a career-high 22 points along with 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block.
Offensively, she shot 8-of-12 from the field, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range, and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line.
Luersman surpassed her previous career-high point total of 15 in the first half of Wednesday's game, entering halftime with 19 points. She scored 12 points as part of a game-opening 20-0 ONU run.
Through three games this season, Luersman is averaging 12 points and 10 rebounds per game, both of which are team bests. Her rebounding average ranks second in the OAC.
The Polar Bears (3-0 overall) return to the court on Tuesday for their home opener against Ohio Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
