Serbin named Freshman of the Year, two other Polar Bears honored as All-OAC performers

ADA — The Ohio Athletic Conference announced its 2019-20 All-OAC honorees Wednesday. A couple Polar Bears made the list.
Brynn Serbin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) was named Freshman of the Year after averaging 5.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, a team-high 2.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game. She scored double figures in five games, which included a career-high 15 points in the OAC Tournament semifinals.
Senior Emily Mescher (Maria Stein/Marion Local) earned first-team All-OAC recognition. She poured in a team-best 11.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest.
Mescher is ONU's all-time in leader in field-goal percentage, connecting on 55.9 percent of her shots from the floor. She's also 14th all-time in school history with 521 rebounds.
Fellow senior Abby Weeks (West Chester/Mount Notre Dame) was named Honorable Mention All-OAC. She averaged 9.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. Weeks is No. 5 all-time in school history, hitting 81.6 percent of her free throws.
The Polar Bears ended the 2019-20 season third in the OAC, boasting a 20-7 overall record and a 13-5 mark in conference action. ONU advanced to the OAC Tournament semifinals before bowing out to No. 25 John Carroll.
