The No. 15 Ohio Northern Women's Basketball team downs Defiance 95-51

DEFIANCE — The No. 15 Ohio Northern women's basketball team defeated Defiance College Tuesday afternoon 95-51 at the Karl H. Weaner Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 2-1 overall, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 0-3.
Four players scored in double digits for Northern, Bullimore with a game-high 16 points, junior Britt Lauck with 14 points, junior Carly Thomas with 10 points and sophomore Courtney Cramer with 10 points.
In the first half Northern shot an impressive 18-36 from the field, while grabbing 21 rebounds.
Northern jumped to an early lead in the contest as they opened the game on a 8-0 run.
The Polar Bears continued to push as a layup from Lauck would put ONU on top 20-10 after the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Polar Bears continued to push the pace extending its lead to 43-26 at the break.
Lauck and Bullimore both recorded 10 points in the half, while junior Amauria Campbell pulled down four rebounds.
The Polar Bears continued its strong performance in the third quarter as they extended their lead to 65-33 following a jumper from senior Brooke Espenschied with 2:39 remaining.
The Yellow Jackets would try to get something going as Ashley Williams would hit back to back threes to pull Defiance within 65-39.
However, the Polar Bears were able to combat the surge and hold on for the 68-43 third quarter lead.
In the fourth quarter, Northern was led by Bullimore and Cramer en route to the 95-51 victory.
Defiance was led in the contest by Sam Ervin with a team-high 11 points.
Northern returns to action Saturday as they travel to Kentucky and take on no. 1 ranked Thomas More at 4 pm.
