ADA — Ohio Northern freshman Ashley Lenser (Brookville) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 18-24.
Lenser shined in the pitching circle all week in helping the Polar Bears go a perfect 6-0 in doubleheader sweeps of conference foes Otterbein, Capital and Baldwin Wallace.
In her three starts during that stretch, she went 3-0 with two shutouts, a 0.32 ERA and a 17-to-4 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
In ONU's 9-1 win at Otterbein, Lenser pitched all six innings, allowing the one run on three hits and four walks while striking out two.
That was the only run she gave up all week, as she shut out Capital and Baldwin Wallace while allowing a combined seven hits and no walks.
In Northern's 2-0 win at Capital, Lenser pitched all nine innings, allowing five hits while striking out eight.
She closed the week with a two-hit shutout of Baldwin Wallace as she tallied seven strikeouts to out-duel the conference's strikeouts leader in Nikki Camarati.
Now 8-2 on the season, Lenser has won each of her last seven starts, including shutouts in four of her last five outings. That stretch includes her no-hitter at Muskingum on April 15.
Lenser enters the week with an OAC-best 1.72 ERA and is tied for fifth in the conference in wins and is 12th in the conference in strikeouts (53).
The Polar Bears return to action on Wednesday to host an OAC doubleheader against John Carroll.
