Weekend Preview: The Ohio Northern softball team continues its Ohio Athletic Conference schedule on Saturday and Sunday with a doubleheader at Capital and a home doubleheader against Baldwin Wallace … Those games are part of a stretch that has the Polar Bears playing 12 games in eight days … Northern is coming off sweeping Wednesday's doubleheader at Otterbein, winning 9-1 in Game 1 and 2-1 in Game 2 … Senior Abby Elliott led off the top of the first inning of Game 1 with a single to record her 100th career hit … Elliott is the 42nd member of ONU's 100-Hit Club … Elliott joined that group just five days after senior Rachel Hish did so … Elliott recorded three hits, including a home run, to go with two RBIs in the game … Hish was 4-for-4 at the plate, and senior Lauren Renner, junior Sydney Motylinski and freshman Taylor Hilty each had a double as part of their two-hit outings … Motylinski and Hilty each had two RBIs … Freshman pitcher Ashley Lenser gave up just one run on three hits and four walks while striking out two over all six innings in the victory … Junior Allie Bican pitched ONU to the Game 2 win, allowing one run on five hits and four walks while striking out five in her complete-game outing … Motylinski had a team-high two hits and matched Renner with one RBI … Sophomore Kaylie Griffin leads ONU in batting average (.352), hits (19) and runs (16) … Hish (.321) and Lenser (.318) are also hitting above .300 on the season … Senior Hannah Rubel has a team-high 10 RBIs … Lenser leads the ONU pitching staff in wins (6), ERA (2.23) and strikeouts (38) … Lenser ranks fifth in the OAC in ERA, ninth in wins and 12th in strikeouts … Senior Stacey Walters ranks 10th all-time at ONU with 148 career strikeouts, and Bican ranks 11th on that list with 138 career strikeouts … Capital enters Saturday's doubleheader at 3-23 overall and riding a 10-game losing streak coming off Wednesday's doubleheader sweep at the hands of Muskingum, losing 6-0 in Game 1 and 13-0 in five innings in Game 2 … Liz Stonerock (.368), Krislyn Bayles (.317) and Tiffany Zuelzke (.304) lead the Comets in batting average … Stonerock has a team-high eight doubles, and Lexie Leggett has a team-leading 15 RBIs … Pitcher Brianna Shearer has a team-best 5.28 ERA and ranks eighth in the OAC with 63 strikeouts … Baldwin Wallace plays a home doubleheader against Mount Union on Saturday before traveling to ONU on Sunday … The Yellow Jackets have four players hitting over .300 on the season, led by Emily Mau (.398) and Alicia Saxton (.358) … Ashley Matousek has a team-high 10 doubles and 15 RBIs … Pitcher Nikki Camarati is 8-7 on the season with a 2.12 ERA and 175 strikeouts … Camarati leads the OAC, and ranks fifth in the country, in strikeouts and is fourth in the conference in ERA.
