ADA — Sophomore Jenna Hollar recorded her 55th career stolen base to move into second all-time in ONU career history as the Polar Bears split with Anderson (Ind.) 6-1, 3-6 Tuesday afternoon at the ONU Softball Field.
Ohio Northern moves to 22-16 overall, while the Ravens move to 20-11.
Hollar went 2-for-6 on the day with three runs, one RBI and three stolen bases.
In game one, the Polar Bears found themselves behind 1-0 before plating the games tying run in the bottom of the third inning as freshman Kylie Asmus singled through the right side scoring junior Megan Hupp.
Northern would use plate discipline in the fourth inning to plate four more runs.
Sophomore Gia Saturday led off the inning with a walk.
Sophomore Miranda Huddle would also draw a walk before senior Tessa Topp singled up the middle placing runners in scoring position.
Sophomore Anna Martin would record her first RBI of the contest with the next at bat drawing the third walk of the inning.
The Anderson pitching staff would go on to walk five total in the inning putting ONU on top 5-1.
Northern would add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning as Lahti hit an RBI single to center, scoring Hollar.
Sophomore Kirsten Lightel got the call in game one improving to 14-5 overall on the season.
In game two, Anderson used a big seventh inning to defeat the Polar Bears.
After following behind 6-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning, ONU was able to plate two runs before the AU defense retired the side.
Freshman Hailee Loughman would drive in one run for Northern as she hit an RBI single to left center that scored Huddle.
Hollar would plate the games final run on the next at bat as she reached on a fielders choice to the short stop.
The Polar Bears return to action Saturday as they wrap-up regular season play with Capital.
