Meet Previews: The Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team is competing in split-squad events this week with some athletes going to the two-day St. Francis (Ill.) Fighting Chance Invite on Friday and Saturday and some going to the Harrison Dillard Twilight at Baldwin Wallace on Friday … In the Fighting Chance Invite, field events begin at 1 p.m. (CDT), and running events begin at 5:30 p.m. (CDT) on Friday … On Saturday, field events begin at 12 p.m. (CDT), and eunning events begin at 1 p.m. (CDT) ... In Friday's Harrison Dillard Twilight, field events begin at 2 p.m., and running events begin at 4 p.m. … The Polar Bears are coming off a fourth-place finish in the OAC Championships meet last Thursday and Friday … The team scored 100 points, finishing behind Mount Union (223), John Carroll (221) and Wilmington (111) … Northern had conference champions in three events … Fifth-year senior Jack Lehr won the javelin throw with a mark of 51.23 meters, which ranks 10th all-time at ONU … Sophomore Keegan Digby won the shot put with a distance of 14.64 meters, giving him the indoor-outdoor sweep of the conference titles in the event … Digby's throw of 16.34 meters in the shot put at the Mike Becraft Invitational on April 23 broke a 35-year-old school record, which was 15.74 meters set by Jim Shaw in 1987 … Digby's mark currently ranks eighth in the country … Sophomore Trey Myers won the 800 meters, posting a time of 1:53.77 … ONU had five other All-OAC performances at the meet … Senior Andrew Buderer placed second in the pole vault … The team of freshman Ryan Massie, junior Brooks Blakeley and sophomores Canyon Neundorfer and David Gross finished third in the 4x800 relay … Junior Hunter Kesler finished third in the 200 meters … The team of juniors Brandon Berry and Vini Souza, senior Nate Dean and freshman Ozzie Miller placed third in the 4x100 relay … Myers, Souza, Gross and freshman Landon Remmert finished third in the 4x400 relay … In addition to Digby's mark in the shot put, the Polar Bears have four other season-best performances that rank inside the top 50 in the country … Freshman Jordan ranks 30th in the 400 meters with a time of :48.45 … Fifth-year senior Travis Sutter ranks 41st in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:23.20 … Buderer ranks 47th in the pole vault with a height of 4.61 meters … The team of Kesler, Myers, Gross and Jordan Dean ranks 24th in 4x400 relay with a time of 3:16.69 … The top 20 individuals and top 16 relay teams qualify for the NCAA Championships scheduled for May 26-28 in Geneva, Ohio … Only one team per relay event per school is eligible to qualify for nationals … ONU's 4x400 relay team currently ranks 17th under those standards.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 13th season as the head men's track and field coach at ONU … He owns a 508-142-2 overall record outdoors, a winning percentage of .781.
