Sophomore Keegan Digby, 4x400 relay team lead Men’s Outdoor Track and Field at Ashland Alumni Open

ASHLAND — A first-place finish from the 4x400 relay team and a second-place showing from sophomore Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) in the shot put led the way for the Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team at the two-day Ashland Alumni Open on Friday and Saturday at Ferguson Field.
The Polar Bears (10-0 overall) posted 10 top-10 finishes overall at the meet, which was not team scored.
The 4x400 relay team of junior Hunter Kesler (Oakwood/Paulding), sophomores Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) and David Gross (Prospect/Pleasant Local) and freshman Jordan Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela Saint Joseph) won the event with a time of 3:16.69.
A second ONU team, consisting of sophomores Tyler St. Onge (Litchfield, N.H./Campbell) and Canyon Neundorfer (Bellville, Tex./St. John) and freshmen Mitchel Vance (Bellefontaine/Benjamin Logan) and Ross Schlatter (Curtice/Genoa) placed sixth in the event with a time of 3:35.38.
A week after setting the new school record in the shot put at 16.34 meters, Digby posted a mark of 15.91 meters on Saturday to place second.
Northern added a pair of fourth-place finishes courtesy of the 4x100 relay team and junior Nick Tangeman (Maria Stein/Marion Local).
The 4x100 relay team of senior Nate Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela Saint Joseph), juniors Brandon Berry (Wickliffe) and Vini Souza (Spencerville) and freshman Ozzie Miller (Dalton) ran a time of :42.66, and Tangeman posted a mark of 13.10 meters in the triple jump.
Tangeman's distance is tied for 10th all-time at ONU.
Sophomore Gabe Hensley (Lebanon) was ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.15 meters.
Freshman Adam Hellman (Findlay) was sixth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:35.44, and freshman Landon Remmert (Marengo/Highland) was eighth in the 400 hurdles with a time of :58.28.
Fifth-year senior Jack Lehr (York, Pa./Dallastown) rounded out ONU's top-10 finishes, placing ninth in the javelin throw with a mark of 46.52 meters and ninth in the discus throw with a distance of 41.56 meters.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Thursday and Friday for the OAC Championships in Berea.
