Men’s Outdoor Track and Field leads Mike Becraft Invitational after Day 1

ADA — With the help of top finishes from fifth-year senior Jack Lehr (York, Pa./Dallastown) and sophomore Tommy Vetrovsky (Macedonia/Nordonia), the Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team sits in first place after Day 1 of the Mike Becraft Invitational on Friday at Kerscher Stadium.
Over two events, the hammer throw and javelin throw, the Polar Bears scored 34 team points to sit in first place ahead of Albion (Mich.) and Manchester (Ind.), which are tied for second with 13 points each.
The top eight placers in each event score points for their team.
Vetrovsky and Lehr led the way for the Polar Bears, scoring victories in the hammer throw and javelin throw, respectively.
Vetrovsky posted a mark of 50.74 meters, and Lehr's throw was 49.30 meters.
Vetrovsky added a fourth-place finish in the javelin throw with a distance of 44.00 meters, and Lehr was sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 44.90 meters.
Sophomores Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) and Dakari Ward (Dayton/Wayne) also scored for the Polar Bears as they placed fifth and seventh, respectively, in the hammer throw.
Digby posted a mark of 47.30 meters, and Ward's distance was 44.69 meters.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday for the second and final day of the Mike Becraft Invitational.
