Sutter, Dean lead Men's Indoor Track and Field on final day of Hilsdale (Mich.) Classic

HILLSDALE, Mich. — Junior Travis Sutter (Fort Recovery) and sophomore Nate Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela Saint Joseph) led the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team on the final day of the Hillsdale (Mich.) Wide Track Classic on Saturday at the Biermann Center.
Sutter won the 1-mile run in 4:32.64. Sophomore Patrick Baker (Massillon/Jackson) also scored points with a top-8 finish for ONU, as he was fourth in the race in 4:35.25.
Dean followed up his record-seetting effort in the 200 on Friday with a third place finish in the 400 on Saturday, finishing in 50.72 seconds.
Junior Sam Krabacher (Hamilton/Badin) was third in the 800-meter run in 1:58.95. Senior Andrew Shelton (Williamsville, N.Y./South) was fifth in the race in 1:59.49.
Junior Owen Lloyd (Colfax, Ind./Clinton Prairie) finished fifth in the high jump by clearing 1.84m (6'-.50").
On Friday, Dean won the 200-meter dash in a school record :22.30 and sophomore Andrew Buderer (Oak Harbor) won the pole vault by clearing a career-best 4.85 meters (15'-11").
Dean broke the previous record of 22:38 set by Evan Hayman in 2011.
Sophomore Luke Shellhaas (Greenville/Versailles) finished third in the pole vault by clearing 4.27 meters (14'-0").
ONU also had a pair of top-10 finishes.
Junior Dylan McKean (Warren/Champion) was eighth in the 5,000-meter run in 16:23.34.
The distance medley relay team of junior Jordan Green (Wooster), freshman Selorm Adehe (Grove City/Central Crossing), Shelton and Krabacher was sixth in 10:49.17.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday with the All-Ohio Championships at Otterbein.
