Boyd, Shumate, Schalois and Molinaro earn USTFCCCA All-Great Lakes Region honors for Men's Outdoor Track & Field

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team saw four members garner United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region honors for the 2017 season.
Seniors Samuel Boyd (Killbuck/West Holmes), Lucas Shumate (Wapakoneta/Spencerville), Kase Schalois (Van Wert) and junior Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) all earned honors for the Polar Bears.
Boyd was named All-Great Lakes Region honors for the first time this season.
The senior was named All-Great Lakes Region in the steeplechase.
Boyd owns the second-best time on the team in the event and ranks 28th nationally in the event, narrowly missing a chance to compete at the NCAA III National Championships.
Shumate earned the honor for the second time in 2017, garnering the accolade in the hammer throw.
The senior qualified for the national meet in the hammer throw.
He currently ranks 19th in the country with a toss of 184' 8".
Schalois earned the honor for the first time in 2017.
The senior was named All-Great Lakes Region in the steeplechase.
Schalois owns the eighth fastest time nationally in the event and will compete in the 2017 Outdoor Championships this week.
Molinaro earned the honor the for the second time during the 2017 season as he was named All-Great Lakes Region in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs.
The junior currently owns the fastest time nationally in the 800-meter run and will represent Ohio Northern at the 2017 NCAA III Outdoor National meet this weekend.
Northern returns to the track this weekend as it competes in the 2017 NCAA III National Championships in Geneva, Ohio and the SPIRE Institute.
