Shumate leads No. 30 Men's Outdoor Track & Field to fifth place finish at Marv Frye Invitational

DELAWARE — Senior Lucas Shumate (Wapakoneta/Spencerville) posted two top-2 finishes as the Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team finished fifth at the Marv Frye Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
The Polar Bears improve to 38-11 overall.
Shumate got the Polar Bears off to a strong start on the first day of competition as he posted a second place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 170' 6.00".
Senior Zane Augustine (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) posted a fourth place finish in the the event with a toss of 156' 9.00" and also finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 43' 5.00".
Shumate claimed the discus title for ONU as he won the event with a mark of 151' 5.00".
Senior A.J. Cody (Findlay/Liberty-Benton) finished fourth in the event with a toss of 136' 8.00".
In the 400-meter dash, junior Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) finished second in :49.40.
In the high jump, junior Alexander Sibila (Zionsville, Ind.) tied for fourth as he cleared 6' 1.25".
Senior Adam Smith (Rocky River) posted a fourth place finish in the pole vault, clearing 12' 6.75".
In the triple jump, freshman Jordan Smith (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) posted a fourth place finish with a mark of 41' 6.00".
Northern returns to the track Saturday, Apr. 15 as it competes in the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
