Men's Indoor Track & Field to compete at OAC Championships

This Weekend's Preview: The Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team is set to compete at the 2017 OAC Championships, hosted by Baldwin Wallace University ... The meet will feature all ten teams from across the Ohio Athletic Conference ... The Polar Bears have finished in the top-3 at the championships for the last three seasons, including two second second place finishes ... The top eight competitors in each event will be scored ... Field events will begin on Friday afternoon at 1:30 pm, as men's and women's pole vault, shot put, long jump, 3,000-meter run and distance medley relay's will all be final after Friday ... The remaining events on Friday will be preliminaries for day two of the meet ... Saturday's schedule features the remaining field events beginning at 10 am and the remaining running events at 2 pm ... Northern is coming off of a strong weekend as it competed at both the Ohio State Buckeye Tune Up and the Mount Union Tune Up ... In the Buckeye Tune Up, senior Lucas Shumate broke his own previous school record in the weight throw at the Ohio State Buckeye Tune Up Meet as he finished fifth overall with a school record toss of 59' 6.25" ... Junior Matt Molinaro also competed at the OSU Buckeye Tune Up Meet and ran a career-best time of 4:14.22 in the 1-mile run and finished third overall ... His time currently ranks 12th nationally ... At the MtU Tune Up meet, junior Alec Lunney led the Polar Bears as he won the 800-meter run in 2:01.80 ... Senior Andrew Harden posted a second place finish in the 1,000-meter run in 2:35.89.
