Men's Indoor Track & Field team finishes third of 10 at 2015 OAC Championships

BEXLEY — Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team had one event champion and broke a school record in another race on the final day of the 2015 OAC Championships meet on Saturday at the Capital Center.
The Polar Bears (44-6 overall) finished third out of 10 teams with 94 points in the 19 events.
No. 2-ranked Mount Union won the team title with 209 points, John Carroll was second with 116 points and Otterbein was fourth with 83 points.
Freshman Matt Molinaro won the 800 run in 1:55.83, beating the field by more than two seconds.
Junior Robbie Brinkman broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing fourth in 8.68 seconds.
He set the record in Heat 2 of the timed final, after freshman Matt Craven tied the school record of :08.70 in the first heat, which eventually placed him sixth in the event.
"Our men's team had a big second day," ONU head coach Jason Maus said. "We had some things not go our way early, but we responded. We had some young guys step up big. I'm really proud of our effort."
Senior Phil Farwig earned All-Conference honors with a third place finish in the shot put with a toss of 49' 2.25".
Freshman Conner Karg earned All-OAC accolades in the 400 dash, placing third in :50.38. Senior Jonathan Roseler was fifth in :50.57.
Senior Ryan Brancheau finished fourth in the high jump by clearing 6' 3.5" and was eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 41' 5.25".
ONU had three placers in the 5,000 run, led by senior Nathan Rosenbaum in fourth in 15:19.42.
Sophomore Kase Schalois was sixth in 15:27.66 and sophomore Aaren Hemmelgarn was eighth in 15:31.21.
Senior James Rader finished fifth in the 500 run in 1:07.74.
In the 1-mile run, sophomore Andrew Harden finished fifth in 4:27.83 and senior Kyle Wagner was eighth in 4:30.04.
The 4x400 relay team of Karg, Molinaro, Rader and Roseler earned All-OAC kudos with a second place finish in 3:27.16.
The 4x400-meter relay team of junior Denorris Turner, Karg, junior Jojuan Fisher and Rader placed fourth in 1:32.38.
The Polar Bears will return to action March 7 when they host the Polar Bear Last Chance Qualifier.
