Men's Tennis drops tight 5-4 decision to Franciscan, defeats Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) 6-3

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 5-4 decision to Franciscan on Saturday afternoon before defeating Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) 6-3 on Saturday afternoon at Peters Township Tennis Center.
The Polar Bears move to 3-2 on the season.
In the contest against Franciscan, sophomore Connor Christian (Gallipolis/Gallia Academy) teamed up with junior Jake Abbott (Kenton) to claim a 9-8 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Senior Cody Hurley (Centerville) junior Tim Kargl (Downers Grove, Ill./South) would give Northern a 2-1 advantage through doubles with an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Freshman Hoang Do (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) would grab a 7-5, 7-6 victory at No. 2 singles, whle Abbott posted a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles to lead Northern in the match.
In the victory over Wash. & Jeff., Kargl and Hurley teamed up to win at No. 3 doubles, 8-4.
Trailing 2-1 after doubles play, sophomore Tyler Frantz (Bellefontaine) would win 6-4, 6-7, 10-8 in an exciting match at No. 5 single, while freshman Drew Sarno (Elida) won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
Abbott, Christian and Do would all also post singles victories to help lift ONU to the 6-3 victory.
Northern returns to the court Sunday, Feb. 25 at the Westwood Tennis Center in Lima as they host Penn St.-Behrend at 2 pm.
